Zomig I - Migraine Drug Launch
The Zomig experience is a promotional/educational software package produced for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca) to aid in the launch of their new migraine drug. This experience provides the user with an insight into the causes of migraine, and provides a first-person experience of the first stages of migraine. They are also taken on a fantastic voyage through blood vessels in the meninges and the optic nerve.

During the fantastic voyage the user can see the nerve impulse routes associated with the migraine headache pain, and is then shown how Zomig is understood to treat the migraine processes.

The experience was used at the Edinburgh Science Festival in 1997 to launch the drug and then used for numerous internal and external exhibitions, GP meetings, Patient Focus Groups and was eventually rolled out world-wide. The program was phenomenally successful, winning a communiqué award and securing Zeneca a huge amount of media coverage. Due to this success, a second program was commissioned – Zomig2.

The ‘Fantastic Voyage’ element of this program has uses for practically all other medical conditions, where the nature of the condition or the mode of action of the treatment could benefit from being explained and visualised in this unique way.
