Leicester City's New Stadium Development 2001
Maelstrom produced the first ever fully immersive VR walk-through for Leicester City's new stadium development
in 2001. Unfortunately the stadium never got passed this developmental stage as they lost funding and sponsorship contracts which had a massive impact of the stadiums future.

Later that same year the club re-initiated talks with Maelstrom to produce their new stadium design a slightly more modest 32,000 seater stadium, backed by new funding and sponsors 'Walkers Crisps'.

Features of this program
Maelstrom took aerial photography to place the virtual stadium in the correct physical location. Environmental impact is a big issue in any new construction development - producing a full scale replica of the proposed structure enables users to get a true feeling of scale and how the new building fits into it's surroundings.

Having the ability to choose and sit in any of the 40,000 seats gives prospective season ticket holders a unique opportunity to take a look at the pitch from the seat of their choice before purchasing the ticket.

To aid in the planning process and design of the stadium - the VR version is built entirely to scale, enabling
planners and builders to identify and solve any problems that may exist. Maelstrom used the architectural plans
and drawings, as well as the original tender document, to produce the software, so ensuring complete accuracy.

Sales - Advertising opportunities around the pitch can be seen, bought and sold based on viewing it in situ, also
Corporate boxes can be designed and furnished to the clients needs. To get more information about how VR
can help your stadium development click here or read more in the Leicester City Football Club's stadium
