Procter & Gamble - Design & Visualisation
This program developed for a large multinational company is used to assess the suitability and effectiveness of new in-store designs for POS units, packaging, layout etc.

3 leading high street stores were recreated, based upon actual stores, to allow for different target markets, in full detail down to products on shelves, posters on the walls, basically everything you expect to find in these stores. Users started outside of the store and were free to walk anywhere they wanted in the virtual store.

The program was tested on a broad range of consumers to assess the effectiveness of the technology and then new design elements were introduced to see which they found preferable. Consumers also wore Data Gloves which gives them a hand in the virtual world, and they were able to pick up a number (around 150) of products from the shelves, examine them and read the text on the boxes.

Users of all ages found the environments very realistic and felt as though they were in the stores, proving the effectiveness of the technology. Now all the stores are created, it is relatively quick and easy to produce and place new products, signage, POS unit’s etc. into the store to test their effectiveness with consumers.

This specific application highlights the benefits of the technology in being able to quickly and cheaply test new
designs on your target market, in location, without having to go to the trouble and expense of the actual physical
creation of units or signage.
