  The VR Gloves incorporated 5-DT data glove technology, however the 5-DT product was not designed for heavy
  public domain usage, so the gloves were redesigned to what can be seen in the pictures above. Using IGUS
  easy chain casings we restricted the 5-DT technology to only bending in one axis, something the original glove
  failed to do, and therefore it gave erratic data feedback (on twist).

    This new design meant that when each user bent their fingers we knew 'in software' that it was a definite
  action, rather than a sensor that had become twisted and would therefore send data back that the finger was
  bent when in actual fact the users finger were straight.

  Maelstrom received a special mention in the IGUS Vector Awards for innovative use of their Easy Chain product.
